The natural world is fueled with energy, but where does that energy come from and how does it work? Join Dickerson Park Zoo Wildlife University for a week-long exploration of the food chain!
Campers will start with the ultimate source of energy: the sun! From there, we’ll follow the chain of energy through plants, hungry herbivores, fierce predators, and finish up with decomposers. Each day focuses on a new link in the chain with interactive activities, zoo tours, and up-close animal encounters. Kids will leave with a deep understanding that nature is one giant cycle where nothing goes to waste! Classes take place in the Education Department. This is a child-only class. Please bring a lunch that does not require refrigeration. Please wear closed-toe shoes.
Age: Children entering 2nd grade – entering 5th grade
Fee per session: $325/Non-Member, $300/FOZ Members
Duration: 6 hours per day, Monday-Friday
All classes are located at the Education Building (1103 W Smith Street, Springfield, MO 65803), not at the Dickerson Park Zoo front gate.
