This one-day class is designed for high-school students interested in a career in veterinary science. Students will have the opportunity to learn from zoo veterinarians and observe real procedures happening right here at Dickerson Park Zoo. Bring your questions, curiosity and some good walking shoes for this unforgettable experience in the world of zoo medicine! Please wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty, closed-toed shoes and pack a lunch for this zoo class!
PLEASE NOTE: This experience may not be suitable for all students. Participants will be observing real procedures that could include: blood draws, injections, surgery, necropsy, animal medical emergencies and other veterinary procedures that could be distressing for some individuals.
Age: Grades 9-12
Fee: $60 members, $75 non-members
Duration: 6 hours
Time: Monday, June 8th 9:00 a.m – 3:00 p.m.
All classes are located at the Education Building (1103 W Smith Street, Springfield, MO 65803), not at the Dickerson Park Zoo front gate.
