Celebrate National Chinchilla Day with a fun and educational afternoon at the zoo! This exciting class will introduce students in grades 2nd-5th to the fascinating (and adorable!) world of chinchillas. We’ll dive into their natural habitats, discover why they are endangered, and learn about the conservation efforts being made to protect them. The day will also include a special meet-and-greet with the zoo’s very own chinchillas, offering a rare opportunity to observe these charming creatures up close. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of chinchillas, their importance in the wild, and how they can help make a difference in protecting them.
Please dress appropriately for an outdoor zoo walk (weather dependent). This is a drop-off class; adults do not stay with the child.
All classes are located at the Education Building (1103 W Smith Street, Springfield, MO 65803), not at the Dickerson Park Zoo front gate.
