Did you know you are probably holding a bit of a flamingo’s habitat in your hand? Lithium in batteries needed for smart technology like phones, tablets and electric cars is mined from the habitat of Andean Highland Flamingos in the Atacama Desert located in Chile.

Did you also know the average American household has up to four old cellphones stashed in a drawer?

Your old phone can bring new hope to flamingos. Simply delete/wipe your information off your old phone or tablet and bring it to Dickerson Park Zoo’s gift shop.

All funds raised will help support the SAFE Andean Highland Flamingo program through research, education and conservation in Chile.
